Athletic Department Honors Student-Athletes At Academic Recognition Luncheon

DETROIT - Wayne State University Director of Athletics Rob Fournier along with Provost Nancy S. Barrett honored the 67 Warrior student-athletes who recorded at least a 3.50 grade-point average for the Fall 2004 term during the fifth annual WSU Athletic Department Academic Recognition Luncheon held yesterday at Historic St. Andrew's Hall on the WSU campus.

Also recognized were eight Deans' Award winners for having the highest cumulative grade-point average among all student-athletes in that particular college:

* School of Business Administration - Jenni Culbertson, Women's Cross Country

* School of Medicine - Jinelle Lawson, Women's Fencing

* College of Education - Lisa Gauthier, Softball

* College of Engineering - David Lutz, Men's Swimming

* College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts - Brian Thibault, Men's Fencing

* College of Liberal Arts and Sciences - Renée Moncion, Women's Cross Country

* College of Liberal Arts and Sciences - Alicia Chmielewski, Women's Fencing

* College of Urban, Labor and Metropolitan Affairs - Wes Brown, Football

Also receiving recognition were those student-athletes who graduated in the Fall of 2004 or will graduate next month.
