Athletic Department Honors Student-Athletes At Academic Recognition Luncheon

Wayne State University Director of Athletics Rob Fournier along with Provost Nancy S. Barrett honored the 79 Warrior student-athletes and cheerleaders who recorded at least a 3.50 grade-point average for the Fall 2005 term during the sixth annual WSU Athletic Department Academic Recognition Luncheon held today at Historic St. Andrew's Hall on the WSU campus.

Also recognized were six Deans' Award winners for having the highest cumulative grade-point average among all student-athletes in that particular college:

* School of Business Administration - Jenni Culbertson, Women's Cross Country

* College of Education - Meghan Misiak, Softball

* College of Engineering - Steve Znoy, Men's Fencing

* College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts - Erika Barczak, Women's Diving

* College of Liberal Arts and Sciences - Alicia Chmielewski, Women's Fencing

* College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences - Leah Steinke, Women's Cross Country

Also receiving recognition were those student-athletes who graduated in the Fall of 2005 or will graduate next month.
