Wayne State University student-athletes and cheerleaders had another stellar semester in the classroom during the Fall 2006 term.

Fifty-three (53%) percent of Wayne State student-athletes and cheerleaders had over a 3.00 term grade-point average for Fall 2006 with at least 12 academic hours.

"The academic performance of our student-athletes reflects a commitment to the University's primary mission," stated Rob Fournier, WSU Director of Athletics. "To have nine (9) of seventeen (17) teams above a 3.0 GPA is a credit to our student-athletes, coaches and Ryan (Academic Advisor Ryan Kelley).

The programs that we have implemented to improve academic performance and retention, help us deliver our classroom successes. The overall percentage of student-athletes above a 3.0 grade average continues to improve each semester to the all-time high 53% mark achieved this term."
