NCAA Releases Graduation Rate Data

Nov. 6, 2007

Earlier today, the NCAA released its Division II Federal Graduation Rate Data.

On average, 53 percent of WSU's roughly 400+ student-athletes have a 3.00 or better grade-point average and 23 percent are above 3.5. In the latest federally-mandated graduation study, Warrior student-athletes graduated at a 17% higher mark than the comparable campus population. The overall grade-point average for all 17 athletic teams at the start of the 2007 fall term is 3.03. These, and other academic achievements, are recognized at the annual academic banquet, which was started in 2001.

"Our graduation rate continues to reflect our emphasis on the University's primary mission and the resources we have focused on academic success," stated Rob Fournier, Director of Athletics. "Our graduation rate continues its steady climb each year and is most telling in comparison to the University's like population. Our new academic success center for student-athletes will continue to benefit this important objective."
