Wayne State University student-athletes had another stellar semester in the classroom during the Winter 2008 term.

"I am pleased by the performance of our student-athletes this past semester (Winter 2008) especially with eleven (11) sports having a cumulative team grade-point average above 3.00," stated Wayne State University Athletics Director Rob Fournier.

"With the cumulative GPA for all student-athletes at nearly a 3.00, it is clear our coaches and teams have embraced the University's primary academic mission," added Fournier.

"When you consider each spring athletic team advanced to their respective NCAA tournament, and the cumulative community service volunteer hours for the two terms was 3.987, it is clear you do not have to sacrifice any meaningful athletic initiative to achieve competitive success."

A WSU school-record 25 student-athletes, from 13 different sports, recorded perfect 4.00 term gpa (indicated by *).
