WSU Student-Athletes Have Excellent Semester in the Classroom
Sixty-one percent of student-athletes above a 3.00 for Fall 2009.
Jeff Weiss, Assistant Athletic Director
2/4/2010 10:11:41 AM
Wayne State University student-athletes had another stellar semester in the classroom during the fall 2009 term with 61 percent of the student-athletes recording at least a 3.00 term grade-point average.
"This report underscores the emphasis our student-athletes and coaches put on academics," stated Wayne State University Athletics Director Rob Fournier.
"Our stretch goal heading into the semester was to have 60% of our student athletes above a 3.0. We achieved that (61%) and also advanced our support programs that realized an impressive thirteen (13) teams (out of 16) with team grade-point averagees above a 3.00. It is an accomplishment each member of the department can point to with satisfaction," added Fournier.
Twenty-three student-athletes, from 12 different sports, recorded perfect 4.00 term gpa (indicated by *).
