At the annual NCAA Division II Softball College World Series pre-tournament banquet held last Wednesday, two Wayne State University student-athletes were presented with All-American awards as voted on by members of the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association).
Senior pitcher
Casey Hanes (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) was voted to the NFCA All-American First Team, while sophomore outfielder
Alison Allen earned NFCA All-American Third Team selection.
Both players were instrumental in the Warriors winning the GLIAC regular-season title, and being seeded first in the Midwest Region for both NCAA Regional and NCAA Super Regional competition, which Wayne State won to advance to the College World Series for the second time in school history.
