DETROIT - The Wayne State University baseball team had 15 student-athletes selected to the 2010 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
Among the Warriors selected were redshirt seniors
Justin Mazur (Macomb, Mich./De La Salle),
Tom Olson (Clinton Twp., Mich./Chippewa Valley) and
John Skaggs (Adrian, Mich.); seniors
Brady Cooper (Allen Park, Mich.),
Paul LaMantia (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne's) and
Ryan LaPensee (LaSalle, Ont./St. Thomas of Villanova); redshirt juniors
Caleb Dalman (Hudsonville, Mich.) and
Michael Wiseman (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland); junior
Tyler Loehr (Brighton, Mich.); redshirt sophomores
Phil Swanson (Rochester Hills, Mich./Stoney Creek) and
Justin Sylvester (Macomb, Mich./Dakota); and sophomores
Andrew Ciennik (Waterford, Mich./Mott),
Matt Mahalak (Wyandotte, Mich./Our Lady of Mt. Carmel),
Eric Ramaekers (Lake Orion, Mich.) and
Josh Wedesky (Fowlerville, Mich.).
Mazur and Skaggs each earned their fourth academic awards, with Cooper, Dalman, LaPensee, and Wiseman each collecting their third. Loehr, Olson, and Swanson each received their second, Sylvester earned his first, while Ciennik, LaMantia, Mahalak, Ramaekers and Wedesky were all in their first year of eligibility for consideration.
To qualify for GLIAC All-Academic status a student athlete must have: a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or greater (on a 4.0 scale); must be a starter or key reserve; and must not be a freshman or first-year transfer.
