Former WSU Hockey Player Frakie Passes Away

Minnesota native totaled 22 career points from 2006-09


The Wayne State University Department of Athletics was saddened to learn of the passing of former WSU women's hockey student-athlete Brandi Frakie, who died at the age of 22 on Wednesday, Aug. 25.

Frakie, a native of St. Louis Park, Minn., played in 67 games in three seasons (2006-09) and scored 22 points, including 15 as a freshman.  She was selected to the College Hockey America All-Rookie Team in 2007.

After suffering an injury midway through her sophomore season and missing 31 games, she recovered to return in January 2009 as a junior and play in 14 contests.

Services for Frakie were held Sunday in Edina, Minn.
