DETROIT -
The Wayne State University women's hockey team played its final home game of the season Saturday afternoon, a 2-1 loss to Robert Morris University at the City Sports Center.

The Colonials scored two goals in a 20-second span in the second period, erasing a 1-0 WSU lead established early in the game by Lauren Lovold (MacTier, Ont./Mississauga Jr. Chiefs), who earned her first collegiate point.

A total of 19 penalties were called for the second straight game, but neither side could capitalize on power-plays. RMU and WSU went a combined 0-for-18.

Shots favored Wayne State, 28-22, with Meeri Raisanen and Delayne Brian (Winnipeg, Man./Notre Dame Hounds) making 27 and 20 saves, respectively. Brian also set a single-season record for minutes played (1676:05), breaking the mark set by Anna VanderMarliere in 2000-01 (1627:10).

Less than 90 seconds into the game, Micheline Frappier (Val Caron, Ont./Sudbury Lady Wolves) won a draw in the RMU zone and pulled the puck over to Rachel Hardwick (Algonac, Mich./Little Caesars), who found Lovold open at the blue line. Lovold's wrist shot deflected in off a defenseman in front at the 1:30 mark.

Robert Morris tied it at 8:09 of the second period, as Sara O'Malley popped in a rebound off a shot from Brandi Pollock. The Colonials took the lead at 8:29 as Courtney Langston took a pass down low from Kelsey Thomas and tucked the puck in between the post and Brian's right pad.

The Warriors outshot the Colonials, 10-3, in the third period and pulled Brian for an extra attacker in the final 90 seconds but could not get the equalizer.

Wayne State will complete its regular-season schedule next weekend at Niagara.

NOTES
WSU honored forward Adrianna Pfeffer (Farmington Hills, Mich./Belle Tire) for Senior Day before the game … Hardwick's assist was her second of the year … Frappier tied her career-high with six assists … Brian has 889 saves this season, and needs 47 to break VanderMarliere's single-season record.
