Painesville, Ohio - The Wayne State women's tennis team (13-1, 13-1 GLIAC) wrapped up conference play Sunday afternoon with a 9-0 sweep over Lake Erie (0-14, 0-14 GLIAC) down in Ohio. The win marks the 12th in a row for the Warriors and secures at least a second place finish in the GLIAC.
In a clearly one sided affair the Warriors only dropped four points in singles and doubles play combined. The Lake Erie squad was limited with what they could accomplish being that they only had five athletes available for Sunday's contest.
Yahsha Moore (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) and
Anne Li Briand (Repentigny, Que. / École Secondaire Félix-Leclerc) were given the day off with regards to doubles play which allowed the other doubles groups a chance to play up a spot while still earning points for their team.
Julia Kamenko (Thornhill, Ont. / Vaughan S.S.) and
Alex Poissant (Laval, Que. / Vanier Prep) were slated at #1 doubles Sunday and were 8-2 winners while
Tanya Joseph (Northville, Mich. / Northville) and
Jessica Kruczek (Detroit, Mich. / Lakeview) were 8-0 victors at #2 doubles.
Poissant, Li Briand and Joseph were all 6-0, 6-0 winners today at the Warriors won every singles match Sunday.
Up next for the Warrior women will be Valporaiso on Monday the 22nd.
