Toledo, Ohio - Wayne State's men's tennis team continued their fall season tune-up this weekend at the University of Toledo. The four team event featured the host Toledo Rockets, Ferris State, IUPUI and Wayne State. With weather forcing the schedule to change a bit all teams involved were forced to adapt to the rapid play and condensed scoring.

In day one action Mohamed Fazyl (Paris, France) and Michael FitzGerald (Grosse Ile, Mich. / Grosse Ile) picked up wins over Toledo 8-4 and 8-3 respectively. Next up for the Warriors was Ferris State and Aman Gill (Windsor, Ont. / Assumption College HS) was another winner 8-5 along with Melvin Joseph (Northville, Mich. / Northville ) 8-6 and Tim Gaul 9-8 (7) also victorious over the Bulldogs. In evening doubles play the only Warriors to pick up victories were the duo of FitzGerald and Fazyl who grabbed 9-8 (6) and 8-3 wins over IUPUI and Ferris State.

Day two was just as kind to the strong doubles team as FitzGerald and Fazyl were again 8-2 winners along with Gill and Melvin Joseph who won 8-6 over Toledo. Singles play was broken into two flights with Fazyl (2-6,6-4, 10-6) and Joseph (9-7) winning "A flight" matches over IUPUI and Ferris State respectively. In "B flight" action Oscar Gamara (Guayaquil, Ecuador / Unidad Educativa Javier) and Trey Keating (Troy, Mich./Troy High School) swept IUPUI and Ferris State while Tim Gaul also picked up a win over Ferris State 8-6.

Saturday the Warrior men will wrap up fall play with a match against Detroit Mercy before kicking off their spring season in February.
