The Wayne State University men's basketball team began its Certified Foreign Tour trip to Canada with a pair of victories.
Wayne State defeated Sheridan College, located in Brampton, Ontario, 95-54, last Friday afternoon.
Bryan Coleman led the Warriors with 21 points, including 17 in the first half.
Ian Larkin and
Mike Hollingsworth each chipped in 14 points, while
Jamar Ragland and
Gerald Williams-Taylor each contributed 13 points.
Michael Martin added 12 points.
On Sunday, WSU recorded a 91-70 triumph over Brookwood Elite, an amateur squad in Quebec.
Cole Prophet led five Warriors in double figures with 19 points. Hollingsworth and Coleman each added 17 points and three rebounds, while Larkin contributed 14 points and a game-high seven rebounds. Ragland had 14 points on 6-of-9 from the floor and 2-of-3 from the foul line.
Wayne State held a 31-21 rebounding edge, including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds.
The Warriors concluded their trip with a 86-74 setback to Montreal Elite. Prophet tallied 20 points on 8-of-18 from the floor, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. Larkin added 19 points and a game-high nine rebounds, including four on the offensive end.
Coleman contributed 13 points, while Williams-Taylor added nine points and seven rebounds.
The Warriors led 22-14 after the first quarter and 41-34 at halftime. Montreal out-scored WSU 25-18 in the third quarter to knot the game at 59 heading into the fourth period.
