Columbus, OH -- Wayne State's women's tennis improved its record to 6-1 on the year with a matching GLIAC mark. Much of the credit for that record comes from the blend of youthful talent and gritty experience. Saturday's match with Ohio Dominican (3-4, 3-4 GLIAC) was a perfect depiction of just that.
The sophomore team of
Yahsha Moore (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) and
Anne Li Briand (Repentigny, Que. / École Secondaire Félix-Leclerc) continued their dominance at #1 doubles with a commanding 8-0 victory before splitting up for easy wins at #1 and #4 singles respectively. Moore finished with a 6-2, 6-2 win while Li Briand made quick work with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Redshirt Juniors
Jessica Kruczek (Detroit, Mich. / Lakeview) and
Tanya Joseph (Northville, Mich. / Northville) earned a point at #3 doubles with their 8-2 triumph.
Alex Poissant (Laval, Que. / Vanier Prep) remained unbeaten on the year at #3 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 tally.
The Warriors now travel to Ashland to take on the Eagles (7-0, 7-0 GLIAC) on Sunday as they look to continue their climb to the top of the GLIAC.
