DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's and women's swimming and diving teams started their seasons last Friday with the annual alumni meet, held at the Matthaei Natatorium.
The 2012-13 conference champion swimming and diving teams were also honored prior to the meet, as they were awarded their championship rings. The teams swept the GLIAC championships for the third straight year in 2012-13.

Sean Peters said that approximately 40 former Wayne State student-athletes came back for the event and most, but not all competed at the meet.
"There was an electric feel to the Alumni Meet," Peters said. "With a packed house and so many great friends coming back to take part, it really was a great way to kick off the season! I am always impressed by the performance and camaraderie by the alumni of all eras, and I know everyone there just had a wonderful evening. I would like to thank all the alumni for making this such a great tradition!"
