Men's Tennis Storms Past Indiana Tech

Detroit - The Wayne State Men's tennis team (1-2) braved the weather but took to the indoor courts to grab a 8-1 victory over Indiana Tech (5-5) Tuesday night in the Multi-Purpose Indoor Facility.

Things opened up with WSU taking the early lead after doubles play two matches to one. Thomas Ducret (Paris, France) and Michael FitzGerald (Grosse Ile, Mich. / Grosse Ile) were winners in second doubles 8-3 while Melvin Joseph (Northville, Mich. / Northville ) paired with Jon Groszek (Dearborn Heights, Mich. / Divine Child) for an 8-2 win at third doubles.

The Warriors of Wayne State took every singles match with Ducret's 6-2, 6-4 win at third singles being the most competitive.

Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France / Martin Luther King) was a 6-2, 6-3 victor in the second singles flight and Aman Gill (Windsor, Ont. / Assumption College HS) held down the top spot with his 6-1, 6-2 triumph.

FitzGerald (6-2, 6-1), Joseph (6-1, 6-0) and Groszek (6-1, 6-1) completed their two point evenings with rather easy victories at fourth, fifth and sixth singles.

The Warriors next hit the court in Florida against Southern New Hampshire University on March 7th.
