Women's Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season

Detroit --  The Wayne State women's tennis team will wrap up its final matches of the 2012-13 season on Thursday and Friday in South Canton, Ohio. The two days trip will feature matches against West Liberty State College (14-2, 9-1 WVIAC) and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (7-6, 1-1 PSAC). The Warriors posted a 13-1 GLIAC mark in the fall and currently sit with a record of 18-5 after a Florida Spring Break that featured matches against nationally ranked teams in Saint Leo (7th) and Florida Southern (20th).

WSU is ranked fifth in the Midwest Region and will score some points with a strong showing on Thursday against Indiana University of Pennsylvania who is ranked 35th nationally.

Sophomore, Anne Li Briand (Repentigny, Que. / École Secondaire Félix-Leclerc) has posted a team leading 20-3 mark on the year playing in the fourth singles spot. Briand was one of three Warriors to post perfect 14-0 records in GLIAC singles play along with the freshman duo of Julia Kamenko (Thornhill, Ont. / Vaughan S.S.) and Alex Poissant (Laval, Que. / Vanier Prep).

Sophomore, Yahsha Moore (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) and Briand currently sport a 20-6 record at first doubles which is good enough for third in the Midwest Region.

The Warriors will hit the courts on Thursday at 1:00 pm against Indiana University of Pennsylvania before the showdown with West Liberty State College on Friday at 11:00 am.
