Men's Tennis Loses to Saint Leo, 8-1

Saint Leo, Fla. - The Wayne State men's tennis team (2-3) dropped a 8-1 decision at Saint Leo University (8-3) on Friday afternoon. The Warriors couldn't match up with the hometown Lions in the second match of a three game stretch for the Green and Gold.

The Warriors came up blank in doubles play but the third flight team of Trey Keating (Troy, Mich. / Troy) and Jason Chen (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) didn't go down without a fight. The duo dropped the match 9-8 (7-4) and had their chances to take the point.

Michael FitzGerald (Grosse Ile, Mich. / Grosse Ile) earned the lone Warrior point at fourth singles with his 6-2, 5-7, 10-6 decision. The other five matches were decided in straight sets.

Aman Gill (Windsor, Ont. / Assumption College HS) fell 3-6, 1-6 in one singles, Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France / Martin Luther King) lost in the second flight 3-6, 3-6 and Thomas Ducret (Paris, France) was a 2-6, 3-6 loser at number three singles.

Melvin Joseph (Northville, Mich. / Northville ) and Jon Groszek (Dearborn Heights, Mich. / Divine Child) dropped their matches at fifth and sixth singles respectively.

The Warriors will hit the courts on Saturday at 9:00 am against Montana State University-Billings.
