Men's Tennis Pulls Away From Montana State-Billings

Orlando, Fla. - The Wayne State men's tennis team (3-3) grabbed a 6-3 win over Montana State University-Billings on Saturday morning. The Warriors went 2-1 over their opening three-day stretch of matches in Florida.

All three doubles matches were decided with 8-4 scores with the Warriors grabbing two of those contests. Michael FitzGerald (Grosse Ile, Mich.) and Melvin Joseph (Northville, Mich. / Northville ) were winners at second doubles and Trey Keating (Troy, Mich.) and Jason Chen (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) took the third flight.

FitzGerald (6-2, 7-5), Joseph (6-2, 7-5) and Chen (6-2, 6-3) were winners at fourth through sixth singles respectively. Thomas Ducret (Paris, France) was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at third singles giving WSU their sixth and final point.

Aman Gill (Windsor, Ont. / Assumption College HS) and Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France / Martin Luther King) were taken down 4-8 in their first doubles match and then both dropped their singles flights. Gill lost in straight sets (5-7, 1-6) while Kechai suffered a (6-3, 4-6, 6-7(5-7)) loss in the second spot.

The Green and Gold get a day off before taking on Florida Southern University on Monday at 3:00 pm.
