Painesville, Ohio -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team (10-5 overall, 7-1 GLIAC) notched a 7-2 triumph Friday at Lake Erie College (1-13 overall, 0-9 GLIAC) to remain in second place in the league standings just one game behind front runner Northwood University (8-0 GLIAC).

The Warriors will play at Walsh (1-8 GLIAC) on Saturday and at Malone (1-8 GLIAC) on Sunday before concluding regular-season play at Northwood on Tuesday.

WSU led 2-1 after doubles play against the Storm.  The second doubles tandem of Jason Chen (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) and Trey Keating (Troy, Mich. / Troy) had an 8-4 victory, while Thomas Ducret (Paris, France) and Jon Groszek (Dearborn Heights, Mich. / Divine Child) combined for an 8-3 triumph at No. 3 doubles.

Wayne State took five of the six singles matches, all in straight sets, only falling at the top flight.

Ducret won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, while Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France / Martin Luther King) was a 6-0, 6-1 victor at third singles.  Chen claimed a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 4 singles, with Groszek notching a 6-0, 6-1 win at fifth singles.  Keating won all 12 games for a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles.
