Tennis Squads And Individuals Listed In Final ITA Rankings

Moore listed in both singles and doubles.


The ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) recently released its final team, singles and doubles rankings for the 2012-13 academic year.

The Warrior women's squad finished fifth in the Midwest Region.  Drury, the top seed in the region, and Northwood,  the second-ranked team, both advanced to the NCAA round of 16.  Northwood fell to eventual national champion Armstrong Atlantic while Drury was upended by West Florida.

Grand Valley was third in the Midwest and Lewis was fourth rounding out the teams above WSU.

In terms of individual rankings, Wayne State sophomore Yahsha Moore (West Bloomfield, Mich.) was 11th in singles and teamed with classmate Anne Li Briand (Repentigny, Que.) for a No. 3 ranking in doubles.  Freshman Julia Kamenko (Thornhill, Ont. / Vaughan S.S.) was ranked 18th in singles.

On the men's side, the Warriors finished the year as the eighth-ranked team in the Midwest Region for Region Coach-of-the-Year Bryan Morrow.
