A current member of the Wayne State University fencing program along with an assistant coach will be competing in the World Championships this week in Moscow.
Sophomore
Ziad Elsissy (Alexandria, Egypt), who earned Second Team All-America accolades in March after placing seventh out of 24 fencers participating in the men's sabre competition at the 2015 NCAA Collegiate Championship, will represent his native Egypt in both the individual and team competitions this week.
Elsissy will be one of 148 participants in the senior men's sabre event that will take place on Monday and Tuesday. He will then team with three others to represent Egypt in the team portion of the championship on Thursday and Friday.

Anatolie Senic, who recently finished his sixth season as a member of Maestro
Jerzy Radz's staff, will represent Moldova in the men's senior foil competition. Senic will be one of 157 participants competing on Wednesday and Thursday.
Senic, who previously served as Head Junior Foil Coach for the Moldovan National Fencing Team from 2005-2008, is a three-time World Cup participant.

Elsissy finished second in his pool with a 4-2 record and +5 in touches (25-20). He is seeded 55th for the direct elimination portion and will face 10th seeded Max Hartung of Germany.
Elsissy suffered a 15-8 setback to Hartung on Tuesday in the round of 64 to finish 55th out of 148 competitors. Hartung is currently ranked ninth in the world in men's sabre.
Senic compiled a 3-3 record during pool play on Wednesday and was -3 (22-25) in touches to finish fourth out of seven in his pool. Senic lost 15-5 to Victor Leon of Venezuela in his first direction elimination bout to finish 99th.
Elsissy's 14th-ranked Egypt squad lost 45-43 to 19th ranked-Mexico in the round of 32 in the team portion to finish 17th overall.
