DiCarlo Garners GLIAC Player of the Week Honors

The WSU veteran tied-for-second at Findlay and won at Ashland in a six-day span.

GLIAC -- Graduate student Josh DiCarlo (Amherstburg, Ont. / General Amherst) of the Wayne State University men's golf team was named GLIAC Player of the Week for the second time in his career on Wednesday.

DiCarlo opened the week by tying-for-second out of 100 golfers on Tuesday at the Findlay Spring Invite in Richmond, Ky.  DiCarlo tied his career low for 54 holes with a 208 (-8, 69-67-72).  Five days later, the WSU graduate student won the 50-player Ashland Spring Invite thanks to another 208 (-8, 69-71-68).  That marked the second tournament victory of DiCarlo's career and first in over three years since the BrownGolf Intercollegiate on March 12, 2022. In the process, Wayne State finished in second place out of 18 squads at Findlay and first among nine teams at Ashland.

So far in 2024-25, DiCarlo has finished among the top 25 for all eight of his tournaments, six of which saw him place no lower than tied-for-third.  In those eight events (20 rounds), the WSU veteran has a scoring average of 71.2 (1,424 total strokes) with six rounds in the 60s and 10 rounds under par, all three of which are tops on the team.

DiCarlo and his teammates will play their second-to-last tournament of the regular season on Sunday-Tuesday, UIndy's Ken Partridge Invitational.  The three-day event will be played at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind.
