Dr. Candice L. Turner is a visionary and trailblazing leader in intercollegiate athletics.  As the Deputy Athletics Director, Senior Woman Administrator, and Provost Senior Staff Representative at Wayne State University, she is a dynamic change-maker committed to creating environments where student-athletes, coaches, and staff can excel.  A curator of culture, she champions spaces that foster leadership, innovation, and opportunities for growth, ensuring that all who seek advancement can thrive.

Dr. Turner has been a dedicated member of the Wayne State Athletics staff since 2008, serving in various departmental roles throughout her tenure.  She currently serves as the sports supervisor for men's and women's golf and volleyball and the secondary sports supervisor for men's and women's basketball and football.  Her leadership within these programs is instrumental in enhancing competitive success, operational efficiency, and the overall student-athlete experience.

Her academic journey includes a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Studies from Miami University of Ohio and a Specialist of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University.  Her dedication to student-athlete development is evident in her deep engagement with the NCAA, where she has participated in the Dr. Charles Whitcomb Leadership Institute, the Women Leaders Executive Institute, and other premier leadership programs.

As the Founder and Principal of DICE Educational and Sports Consultants, Dr. Turner is recognized for her expertise in brand management and revenue generation, solidifying her reputation as an innovative force in external relations.  She is a sought-after thought leader known for implementing transformative programs that elevate athletic departments and higher education institutions.

A proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Dr. Turner’s commitment to leadership, mentorship, and opportunity creation is reflected in her numerous accolades, including the NCAA/Minority Opportunity Athletic Association Governance Grant and the NCAA/Woman Leaders in Sports Convention Grant.  She was also selected for the NACDA Senior Administrator Institute, the prestigious NCAA Pathways 2024 Cohort, and, most recently, the Korn Ferry Advance - Leadership U for Humanity program, further amplifying her influence as a leader dedicated to transformational change.

Dr. Turner’s impact extends beyond administration.  She is a catalyst for excellence, a builder of thriving communities, and a relentless advocate for those seeking to grow, lead, and succeed in athletics and beyond.
