Tanzini Colarossi, a native of Dearborn, Michigan, lettered two years on the Wayne State University women's tennis team. While at Wayne State, Catherine qualified for the NCAA Division II tournament twice and received all-conference honors. One of her major achievements is that she is still currently the first and only woman to qualify for the NCAA tournament at Wayne State University. Tanzini Colarossi earned two varsity women's tennis letters in 1986 and 1987. She qualified for the women's tennis NCAA Division II Championships in 1986 and 1987 and still holds the honor of being the only Wayne State University women to qualify for the NCAA tournament. While also qualifying for the national tournament, Tanzini Colarossi was ranked in the "Top 16" in the nation in 1986 and in the "Top 32" in 1987. She helped lead Wayne State University to a second place finish in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in 1986 as she won the singles and doubles titles. In 1987, Catherine won the GLIAC singles title and earned all-conference honors in 1986 and 1987. In 1985, she was honored with the Wayne State University Jean Ann Stanicik award recognizing her as the team's "Most Valuable Player." She was also nominated to the Junior Federation Cup team in 1986. Before competing at Wayne State, Tanzini Colarossi played at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she was a two-time NCAA Division II team champion (1983 and 1984). Tanzini Colarossi graduated from Wayne State University in 1987 with a bachelor of science degree in Medical Dietetics. After graduating, she immediately passed the board exam to become a Registered Dietitian. After attending school, Catherine worked at the Macomb County Regional Facility as a dietitian and as a tennis pro at the Fairlane Club. Tanzini Colarossi realized that she enjoyed teaching tennis and has taught for the last 14 years while also adding personal training and hydrotone instruction to her program. In 1999, she was honored with the "Continuous Growth" award at the Fairlane Club. Catherine and her husband, Vincent, reside in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, with their two children Christina and Vincent.
