David Beauvais was a two sport athlete in track and football while attending Wayne. He lettered in track from 1928-1931 and was the team co-captain during the 1929 and 1930 seasons. His football letterwinning year was 1929. Beauvais had excelled in track as he won the state AAU indoor low hurdles in 1929 and 1930. He was also the co-holder of the 60-yard high hurdles in the Illinois Relays during his track career.
A 1927 graduate of Detroit Western High School, Beauvais graduated from Wayne in 1933 and received his master's degree from WSU in 1938. Beauvais has been outstanding with his work in track and field. He has been the official head starter and referee for the NCAA Track & Field Championships which have been held in Cobo Arena. University of Michigan Athletic Director, Don Canham, called David Beauvais the leading track and field starter in the United States. He started all the major meets in the United States, including the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Meets, the Big Ten and Big Eight Championships as well as hundreds of other meets.
Before his retirement in 1970, Beauvais had been associated with the Detroit Public Schools for 38 years. David and his wife Dorothy reside in Cedar, Michigan.
