Jacobs, a native of Detroit, lettered three years on the Wayne State University men's golf team. During her three years, Jacobs became the first woman to play collegiate golf (as well as at her high school) and earn a varsity golf letter at Wayne State. Jacobs earned two varsity men's golf letters in the 1974-75 and 1975-76 seasons. She became the second woman to play on a men's varsity and the second woman to earn a varsity letter at Wayne State. In 1975, Jacobs won the Central Michigan Invitational and participated in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NAIAW) tournament. In addition, she was nominated for the United Foundation's "Sportswoman of the Year" in 1978. Jacobs is a multi-media consultant specializing in golf, business and women's issues. A freelance writer, her work has appeared in national, regional and local publications (including a monthly column in the Detroit Free Press), with the subject matter ranging from golf course architecture to "Playing Partners from Hell," which recounted a not-so-memorable experience during a USGA National competition. She hosted her own weekly radio golf show on WJR-AM 760 and has also made numerous television and video appearances locally and nationally. She has filmed specialty golf segments for stations in Chicago, IL, and Detroit, MI. She has co-hosted UPN-50 "Million Dollar Hole-in-One shootout" since 1996 and is developing a weekly _ hour specialty golf show. A professional speaker, Jacobs has entertained a wide variety of clients all over the country with her experience in golf and business. Becoming the first woman golfer ever to be featured on the cover of Private Clubs Magazine, Jacobs is the founder of the Metro Detroit Chapter of the Executive Woman's Golf Association which is a national organization which facilitates business women entering into the world of "client" golf. She is also one of the first women invited to serve on Golf Digest Magazine's "100 Greatest Courses" ranking selection panel. She also serves as advisor to several women's golf organizations, continues to work with the Golf Association of Michigan on the Membership and Communications committees, and is on the Community Partners Board for the PGA's First Tee-Michigan program. A professional musician and recording artist, Jacobs is distributing her first album, "The Treasure - An Inspirational Collection," under her own label, Parrot Records. She is also the Director of Music at St. Basil Parish in Eastpointe, MI, and along with her husband, Gary, owns and operates two area restaurants, CAPERS "Steak by the Ounce" in Detroit and Mt. Clemens, Mich. Jacobs and her husband, Gary, have three German-Wirehair pointers, and reside in St. Clair, Michigan.
