Detroit -- Four Wayne State Warrior women's basketball players were awarded for their performance in the classroom, taking home GLIAC All-Academic honors.
Juniors
Amelia Davis (Temperance, Mich. / Bedford) and
Paige Sickmiller (Romeo, Mich.) earned GLIAC All-Academic Excellence honors, given to players who earned a cumulative GPA between 3.50 and 4.00 through the Fall 2011 semester.
Davis played in all 26 games for the Warriors and is majoring in civil engineering. Sickmiller started every game for WSU and is majoring in communications and media studies.
Junior
Phaebre Colbert (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Forest Hills Northern) and sophomore
Lena Thomas (Bloomfield Twp., Mich. / Bloomfield Hills Andover) took home GLIAC All-Academic laurels, given to players who earned a cumulative GPA between a 3.00 and a 3.49 through the Fall 2011 semester.
Colbert played in all 26 games and is a criminal justice major. Thomas also played in every game and is studying kinesiology.
In order to be considered for any GLIAC academic award, the student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve and not be a freshman or first-year transfer student.
