Over the next couple of weeks we will continue previewing each position on the 2014 Wayne State University football team with each position coach highlighting their respective units.

Three of Wayne State's top four receivers return in 2014, including senior
Michael Johnson who led WSU with 491 receiving yards and tied for the team lead with 33 receptions as a junior in 2013.
Senior
Val Showers is also set to return this fall as a 10th semester senior. He had 626 all-purpose yards for Wayne State a year ago. Junior receiver
Will Wheat and sophomore
Brandon Tinsley are among the other returners. Wheat is a two-time GLIAC All-Academic honoree, whileTinsley played in every game last year mainly on special teams.
Junior
Jamel Hicks and redshirt freshman
Manny Mendoza will also look for playing time at wide receiver, while senior
Mike Sawchuk moved from safety to receiver last spring.
Four newcomers will add considerable depth to the wideout positions. The freshmen are
Corey Ester (Lake Orion),
Keith Graves (Detroit Loyola),
Logan Smith (Mona Shores) and
Terrence Sheard (Detroit Western International).
