Five members of the Wayne State University men's fencing program participated in the 2015 NCAA Midwest Regional on March 7 hosted by Northwestern University.

Redshirt freshman Ziad Elsissy (Alexandria, Egypt), who entered the sabre event seeded second, claimed first place with an 11-2 record and +36 in touches (60-24).  One of his losses was 5-4 to Notre Dame's Jonathan Fitzgerald, who placed fourth.  Elsissy finished in a three-way tie for first with Notre Dame's Jonah Shainberg (11-2, +34) and Ohio State's Frederik Koch (11-2, +32), but won on touch differential.  By virtue of his regional championship title, Elissy has qualified for the 2015 NCAA National Championships to be held at Ohio State on March 19-20 (for men).
