Wayne State University junior Chelsea Johnson (Oxford, Mich.) not only broke the school record in the 3,000m steeplechase at Friday nights NCAA Championship finals in the event, she also became the first runner in the three-year history of women's track at WSU to finish in the top five at the national championships. Johnson, who was seeded fourth after her Thursday prelim time of 10:32.73, shaved seven seconds off that time in breaking her own school record of 10:26.40 set at last month's GLIAC Championship, by recording a fifth-place time of 10:25.23.
