Junior Pati Palczynska (Konstancin-Jeziorna, Poland) took first place in the women's sabre at the 2017 Istvan Danosi Open held at the WSU Mort Harris Recreation and Fitness Center.  She went 5-0 in pool play (25-7 / +18 in touches) to earn the top seed for the direct elimination.  Palczynska won 15-6 over teammate Katie Tyrrell (Detroit, Mich. / Lake Orion) in the quarterfinals, before posting a 15-6 win over former Warrior Julie Saint-Cricq in the semifinals.  Palczynska edged teammate Despina Tsitlakidou (Troy, Mich. / Birmingham Seaholm), 15-10, in the gold medal bout.
