Freshman Niklas Karcz ( Bottrop, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) helped the men's tennis team go 2-0 this past weekend and secure the second seed plus a first-round bye in the upcoming GLIAC Tournament in Midland, Mich. The Warriors topped Michigan Tech 9-0 on Saturday and Lake Superior State 8-1 on Sunday.

Karcz was victorious at No. 2 singles against MTU 6-0, 6-2 and won his flight against LSSU 6-4, 6-1. He paired with Mats Westkamp at the top flight of doubles to win 8-2 and 8-3 respectively.

He was named GLIAC Athlete of the Week for his 6-0 performance.
