Sophomore Makayla Sumrall (Roseville, Mich.) started the season with impressive marks at the SVSU Jet's Pizza invitational on Friday and Saturday.  On Friday, she won the prelims in the 60m dash in a provisional time of 7.66, which was also a personal-best.

She concluded her opening weekend by winning the 200m dash in the fourth-fastest time in program history by clocking in at 25.52.
