Senior Haley Groteler (Holland, Mich. / West Ottawa) swam very well this past week and helped the Warriors earn three victories. On Saturday at Saginaw Valley State, she placed first in both the 100 fly (56.89) and 50 free (24.23). Groteler was also part of two relay victories. WSU notched a victory in the 200 free relay (1:22.17). The winning team included Groteler as the lead off, Marina Tarlev, Allison Lennig and Isidora Sekaric as the anchor. Wayne State had the fastest 400 medley relay (3:50.71). That group consisted of Maddy Chorley, Jia Yi Koh, Groteler, and Tarlev.
She then swam well on Senior Day on Sunday by winning both of the butterfly events - 50 fly (26.47) and 100 fly (58.13). WSU notched a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:46.00). The quarter consisted of Chorley, Koh, Groteler, and Tarlev. The 400 free relay group of Koh, Groteler, Tarlev and Sekaric broke the pool record finishing in a time of 3:28.92. Koh swam a 51.85 leading off the event, which was within a second of the pool record. The previous pool record of 3:29.41 was set by Ashland in 2010.
