Zeyad Nofal (Cairo, Egypt / Newcastle International School) began the Danosi Open by going 6-0 with a +21 touch differential (30-9) in pool play, and received a bye in the round of 32.  The redshirt freshman won three matches with scores of 15-6, 15-10, and 15-7 ahead of his gold medal bout against fellow WSU student-athlete Eyad Marouf (Alexandria, Egypt / European International School of Alexandria).  The two Warriors battled, with Nofal prevailing 15-9.
