Freshman third baseman Katelyn DeWitt (Grand Blanc, Mich.) had a spectacular start to her collegiate career helping the Warriors to two wins (and an extra-inning setback at No. 28-Lincoln Memorial) by hitting .667 (8-for-12) with six runs scored and 10 RBI.  DeWitt had four extra-base hits (three doubles and first career home run) for a 1.167 slugging percentage.
After striking out in her first collegiate plate appearance, DeWitt had a two-run double in the bottom of the third vs. Kentucky Wesleyan to make it 3-0.  In her next at bat, she hit a laser to centerfield that skipped by the outfielder letting a runner score from first (no RBI).
She went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBI against Lincoln Memorial.  DeWitt had an RBI double in the top of the first to score the game's first run. Katelyn smacked her first career home run, a two-run shot, in the fourth to knot the game at 4-4.  She contributed an RBI single in the fifth, which put WSU ahead 6-5.
In the 11-6 triumph over Davis & Elkins, DeWitt went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI.  She had an RBI single and scored in the second as part of a four-run frame.  Katelyn had an RBI single in the third which made it 6-0.  DeWitt had a two-run double in the fifth and worked a full-count walk in the seventh.
