Redshirt sophomore Caleb Sanders (Eastpointe, Mich. / Detroit Edison Public School Academy [Dayton]) was named GLIAC Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday. The honor comes after Sanders hit .600 (9-for-15) with a 1.617 OPS in five games last week including a pair of three-hit performances on Saturday and Sunday against Roosevelt. The left fielder racked up six runs scored, three doubles, one triple, two RBI, 14 total bases, two walks, two hit-by-pitches, only one strikeout, two sacrifice hits, and three stolen bases in three attempts. Sanders is hitting .526 (10-for-19) during his current six-game hitting streak, which has raised his season average from .235 to .314.
