All-American middle blocker Kayla Giroux couldn't have asked for a better start to her senior season on Friday and Saturday at Wayne State's Warrior Invitational. For the team's four matches, Giroux hit .487 with 64 kills and only nine errors on 113 attacks.  She also registered 13 total blocks (1 solo, 12 assisted) and two service aces. In the process, the Flat Rock, Mich. native reached 1,000 career kills, was named the All-Tournament Team MVP and led Wayne State to its first 4-0 start since 2021. Not to mention, Giroux and her teammates snapped the program's nine-match losing streak in five-set matches with the 3-2 win over Winona State on Saturday.
