Former Warrior student-athlete Yahsha Moore was named women's tennis head coach on July 3, 2024.  She had joined the women’s tennis coaching staff in 2017-18 as a volunteer assistant and was serving as an assistant coach for the sixth straight season during the 2023-24 academic year, until elevated to interim head coach on March 1, 2024.

She helped guide the Warriors to an unbeaten GLIAC slate (7-0) in 2024 as well as the GLIAC Tournament championship, an NCAA Midwest Regional title, and a victory at the NCAA Sweet 16 to advance to the national quarterfinals.  Moore compiled a 17-3 mark as the interim head coach this past spring.

In addition, five of her student-athletes were named Academic All-GLIAC with four of those players earning All-Academic Excellence Team honors, including Anais Ruyssen, who was selected as the College Sports Communicators Division 2 women's tennis Academic All-American of the Year.

On the court, the 2024 team garnered GLIAC Player of the Year (Anais Ruyssen) recognition, while Ruyssen and Malak Arafat were voted First Team All-GLIAC for singles.  Marta Komar and Martyna Szpakowska received Second Team All-GLIAC honors for singles, while Ruyssen/Komar and Arafat/Szpakowska registered First Team All-GLIAC awards for doubles.  Dea Gorgidze was named Honorable Mention All-GLIAC.

Moore was selected as the ITA Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2022-23 campaign.  In addition, she was selected for Wayne State's Hall of Fame in 2020 (induction ceremony took place in February of 2022 due to the pandemic).

In her six-plus years on head coach Sheila Snyder's staff, the Warriors compiled an 111-41 record, qualified for five NCAA Tournaments (2018-19-20-22-23), won four GLIAC Tournament titles (Fall 2018, Fall 2019, Spring 2022 and Spring 2023), claimed the Fall 2019 GLIAC regular-season title, and shared the Spring 2022 GLIAC regular-season title.

As a Warrior student-athlete, she was a four-year tennis letterwinner (2011-15) and a four-time All-GLIAC performer (First Team in 2012-13-14 and Second Team in 2011).

Moore concluded her collegiate career first in school history with 97 doubles victories and third with 87 singles victories.  She won 79 percent of her collegiate matches compiling a 184-49 record, while playing primarily No. 1 singles and first doubles.  After playing No. 3 singles and second doubles as a freshman, Moore played No. 1 singles and first doubles her final three seasons.

Her senior season, Moore was ranked first in the Midwest Region in doubles (for the second consecutive year) and third in the Region in singles, after being ranked sixth in singles as a junior.  Each of her last two years she was ranked in the top-25 nationally in doubles (25th as a junior and 19th as a senior).

She helped lead the Warriors to a 90-18 overall record with three NCAA Tournament appearances.

In her junior season, Wayne State won the first NCAA regional title in program history advancing to the NCAA Round of 16 for the first time ever.

WSU won the 2014 GLIAC Regular-Season and Tournament titles, the first for the program since 1982, after finishing second the three previous years.

A native of West Bloomfield, Moore received a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a master's degree in Sports Administration.  She earned Academic Honor Roll status three different semesters.
