Video Tour  |  Staff

The Wayne State Sports Medicine Department is led by Head Athletic Trainer and Associate Athletic Director Lisa Erickson (men's basketball, men's tennis, and men's golf) and Assistant Athletic Trainers Taylor Cutajar (football and GA supervisor for cross country and track & field), Jenna Hirsch (women's basketball, women's tennis, and women's golf), Tera Winton (volleyball, softball, and fencing), and Keegan Gawelek (baseball).  They are helped out by graduate assistants in their support of WSU athletes.  All five are members of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Michigan Athletic Trainers Society, and the College Athletic Trainers’ Society and provide medical care to all Warrior student-athletes.

The sports medicine staff is responsible for all the medical needs of student-athletes, including injury examination, prevention and management, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute, and chronic injuries or medical conditions.  Athletic trainers are present at Warrior home and away events to ensure the health and safety of all student-athletes.

The Matthaei athletic training room has over 1,000 square feet of sports medicine space for treatment/rehabilitation and physician clinics.  Other special features include a hydrotherapy area with three therapeutic whirlpools, a designated team physician examination office, and additional office space for the sports medicine staff.

There are also dedicated sports medicine areas at Tom Adams Field, the softball complex and the indoor facility.
