Tiffin, Ohio -- The Wayne State women's tennis team (7-4, 7-4 GLIAC) closed out its regular season GLIAC schedule in fine fashion, defeating host Tiffin University
9-0 Sunday afternoon.
WSU swept the doubles portion and momentum carried over to singles as five of the six Warriors triumphed in straight sets, helping the team to their second straight win.
Jennifer Bradford and
Jessica Kruczek defeated Renee Mattson and Nicole Ardmer 8-2,
McCall Monte and
Milena Vuksanovic beat Jessie Stefanov and Taylor Cooper 8-5, and
Sharon Gill and
Kristina Goranskaya won 8-1 over Malaika Bora Messi and Emily Egan-Morris 8-1.
Gill won her 75th career singles match, besting Egan Morris 6-0, 6-2, while Goranskaya won a marathon match over Bora Messi 6-3, 5-7, 12-10. Monte outdid Stefanov 6-2, 6-3, and Correa beat Cooper 6-3, 6-3.
Bradford bested Ardner 6-1, 6-2, while
Tanya Joseph defeated Renee Mattson 6-1, 6-1.
The team will close out their fall schedule October 22-24 at the GLIAC Championships in Midland.
