PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Wayne State University volleyball team (12-11, 10-6 GLIAC) won its third straight match on Saturday afternoon, defeating Lake Erie College (4-23, 1-15 GLIAC),
3-0, at Osborne Center Arena.
Wayne State swept the bout by scores of 25-17, 25-14, and 25-21 to reach double-digits in conference victories for the first time since the 1999 squad won 12 GLIAC matches.
Katarzyna Sak (Warren, Mich./Cousino) hit .636 with 17 kills and three blocks.
Kris Vulaj (Redford, Mich./Union) also contributed up front with four kills and five blocks.
The Warriors led for the duration of the first set and closed it out with a 6-1 run. Wayne State pulled away in the second by winning 12 of the final 16 points.
Lake Erie put up a fight in the third, but with the score tied at 20-20 the Warriors took three straight points and held on for the sweep.
Cydney Biessel (Ruby, Mich./Yale) racked up 32 assists, six digs and two blocks.
Maureen MacDonald (White Lake, Mich./Marian) finished with seven kills and seven digs.
Wayne State has three matches remaining in the regular season, all of which will be played at home. WSU will host Findlay on Tuesday, Michigan Tech on Friday and Northern Michigan on Saturday at the Matthaei.
