DETROIT - In the first conference match following last weekend's GLIAC/GLVC Crossover, the Wayne State University volleyball team (9-11, 5-7 GLIAC) dropped a 
3-1 decision to No. 8 Hillsdale College (18-2, 12-1 GLIAC) on Tuesday night at the Matthaei.
The Chargers took the match by scores of 25-11, 22-25, 25-13 and 25-19.  Despite being out-hit .294 to .036, the Warriors were able to snap Hillsdale's streak of five straight shutouts.
Kristen Bulkiewicz (LaSalle, Ont./Sandwich) had a team-high 16 kills with seven digs and three blocks.  
Nicole Arends (Ravenna, Mich.) hit .364 with 11 kills, and 
Lindsey Graciak (Westland, Mich./Livonia Churchill) finished with 16 digs as well as three service aces.
Cydney Biessel (Ruby, Mich./Yale) collected 30 assists and eight digs.
The Warriors did manage to take the second set, hitting .270 as a team and totaling 17 of their 38 kills.  Arends, Bulkiewicz and 
Madie Kent (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North) combined for 15 kills in the set.
Hillsdale, aided by a 10-point run midway through the set, led for the duration of the third.  The Chargers erased a 12-11 deficit in the fourth with a 7-1 run.
Wayne State will travel to Ohio Dominican on Friday.
