DETROIT - The Wayne State University volleyball team (12-12, 8-8 GLIAC) closed out the home portion of its 2011 schedule with a 3-0 victory over Lake Erie College (2-20, 1-15 GLIAC) on Sunday afternoon at the Matthaei.

The Warriors swept the match by scores of 25-14, 25-9 and 25-21, out-hitting the Storm, .271 to -.032.

Lake Erie has lost 16 straight matches, while Wayne State picked up its sixth win in its last eight matches.  The third-place Warriors trail Ashland by one match in the GLIAC South Division with one week remaining in the regular season.

All 13 players on WSU's active roster saw action in at least one set.  Candice Ottey (Ajax, Ont.) hit .750 with 10 kills, and Nicole Arends (Ravenna, Mich.) totaled a team-high 12 kills with a .409 hitting percentage and three blocks.

Kristen Bulkiewicz (LaSalle, Ont./Sandwich) totaled 11 kills and 10 digs for her 11th double-double of the season.  Cydney Biessel (Ruby, Mich./Yale) racked up 35 assists and six digs.

Wayne State led for the majority of the first set and the entirety of the second.  After staking LEC to a 10-5 lead in the third, Wayne State went on an 11-point run and fended off a late Storm rally.

The Warriors will travel to Findlay on Tuesday before heading to the Upper Peninsula next weekend to face Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech.
