UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Snapping a four-match winning streak, the Wayne State University volleyball team (5-5, 4-2 GLIAC) lost in 
four sets (25-16, 25-23, 21-25, 30-28) at Saginaw Valley State University (6-4, 5-1 GLIAC) on Saturday afternoon.
Kristen Bulkiewicz (LaSalle, Ont./Sandwich) and 
Madie Kent (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North) each finished with double-doubles for the second consecutive match.  Bulkiewicz had 12 digs and matched her season-high with 17 kills, while Kent collected 12 kills and 15 digs.  Kent also had four service aces.
Also contributing to the defensive effort were 
Lindsey Graciak (Westland, Mich./Livonia Churchill) and 
Jamie Goryca (Clarkston, Mich.), who had 15 and 11 digs respectively.
While the Cardinals never trailed in the first set, the subsequent three sets were all closely contested.  SVSU led by as many as nine points in the second, but WSU narrowed the gap to 23-22 before the home team won two of the last three points to take a 2-0 lead.
After 10 ties and four lead changes, Wayne State pulled ahead 19-18 and led for the duration of the set to force a fourth.
The Warriors found themselves ahead 24-21, one of five instances in which they were serving to win the fourth set.  SVSU tied it at 28-28 and nabbed the final two points.
Cydney Biessel (Ruby, Mich./Yale) operated the offense with 41 assists.  
Jen Finkbeiner (Saline, Mich.) hit .357 with six kills and three blocks.
SVSU's Annie Buxton led all players with 19 kills as part of her double-double with 13 digs.
Wayne State's weekend road trip concludes Sunday at Ferris State.
