Women's Tennis Takes Third at GLIAC Tourney.

Midland, Mich. - After Saturday's defeat at the hands of Grand Valley, the Wayne State women's tennis team (16-2, 15-2 GLIAC) was looking to at least salvage a third-place finish in the conference tournament with a win over Ferris State. The Warrior women did just that with a convincing 5-0 win over the Bulldogs early Sunday morning.

A quick start with three points in doubles play set the stage for a Warrior victory. Yahsha Moore (West Bloomfield, Mich. / West Bloomfield) and Anne Li Briand (Repentigny, Que. / École Secondaire Félix-Leclerc) were 8-0 winners at #1 doubles while WSU also grabbed victories at #2 and #3 doubles with 8-2 and 8-4 wins, respectively.

In singles play it was again Li Briand making quick work towards a Warrior point with her 6-2, 6-3 triumph at #4 singles before Jessica Kruczek (Detroit, Mich. / Lakeview) won a 7-5, 6-3 match at the #5 spot with the remaining matches going unfinished.

The Warrior ladies will now face a little bit of an off season with hopes of qualifying for the Regional tournament in the spring.
