MIDLAND, Mich. - The Wayne State University volleyball team (12-5, 7-2 GLIAC) was
swept by Northwood University (14-3, 9-0 GLIAC) on Saturday afternoon, enduring its first three-set loss since its season opener.
The Timberwolves won by scores of 25-18, 25-23, and 25-18 to remain unbeaten in conference play.
Kristen Bulkiewicz (LaSalle, Ont./Sandwich) finished with eight kills, and
Kelsey Bonewits (Griffith, Ind.) led the squad with five blocks.
Cydney Biessel (Ruby, Mich./Yale) totaled 13 digs and 13 assists for a double-double, and
Lindsey Graciak (Westland, Mich./Livonia Churchill) racked up 15 digs.
While Northwood led for the majority of the first and third sets, the second had 13 tie scores and six lead changes. Wayne State's last lead was at 22-21 before Northwood nabbed four of the final five points of the set.
Wayne State will play in the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover next weekend against opponents from the Great Lakes Valley Conference to be determined Monday.
