Women's Tennis Runs Streak To Nine.

Detroit - The Wayne State women's tennis squad had a lot of questions heading into the 2012-13 season. They would be featuring a very young team with no top-flight number one player. Once the matches begun however things quickly have fallen into place.

Proof of that was on display yet again today at the Eastside Racquet Club as the Warriors (10-1, 10-1 GLIAC) won their ninth straight match with a 7-2 victory over Michigan Tech (7-7, 4-7 GLIAC). Doubles play has been vital in this run as the Warrior women have dropped just five doubles matches of the 30 total during this current win streak.

Sunday's play added three more doubles victories to that total and again gave Wayne State a big lead heading into singles play. The trio of Julia Kamenko (Thornhill, Ont. / Vaughan S.S.), Alex Poissant (Laval, Que. / Vanier Prep) and Anne Li Briand (Repentigny, Que. / École Secondaire Félix-Leclerc) have yet to lose a singles match on the year at #2, #3 and #4 singles respectively.

Jessica Kruczek (Detroit, Mich. / Lakeview) also picked up a Warrior point at #5 singles with her 6-4, 6-1 victory, her sixth singles win on the year.

A road trip to Ohio lies ahead for the women's tennis squad as they face Malone, Walsh and Lake Erie on Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively.
