Volleyball Finishes Regular Season With 3-0 Victory Over Lake Erie

Painesville, Ohio -- The Wayne State University volleyball team closed out the regular season portion of its schedule Saturday afternoon winning 3-0 at Lake Erie.

The Warriors won with set scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-13. Wayne State had an attack percentage of .200 or better in each set.

Kristen Bulkiewicz (LaSalle, Ont.) paced the Warrior attack with match-high 11 kills and a  .333 percent hitting percentage. Madie Kent (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./Grosse Point North), Essence Jackson-Jones (Muskegon, Mich./Muskegon) and Heather Weiss (Fort Gratiot, Mich./Port Huron) all added four kills for WSU.

Cydney Biessel (Ruby, Mich./Yale) had a team-high 18 assists for WSU. Lindsey Graciak (Westland, Mich./Livonia Churchill) added 12 digs and Kelsey Bonewits (Griffith, Ind.) tallied six block assists for the Warriors.

The Warriors (17-12 overall, 11-7 GLIAC) finished tied-for-sixth in the GLIAC overall standings (which included tied-for-second in the GLIAC South Division) but earned the No. 7 seed for the league tournament.  Malone is not eligible for the conference post-season, while WSU's 3-2 loss at Hillsdale gave the Chargers the tiebreaker and the No. 6 seed.

Wayne State will travel to second seeded Ferris State for a 7 p.m. match on Wednesday.
